Food delivery app case study

THIS IS MY OWN CASE STUDY WHERE I DESIGN A FOOD DELIVERY APP FROM FIRST IDEAS AND SKETCHES TO THE FINAL HIGH FIDELITY DESIGN

A UX/UI case study focused on designing a modern food delivery application from scratch. The project covers the entire design process — from research, interviews, personas, and user journeys to wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity screens.

The main objective was to design a fast, intuitive, and visually engaging experience that helps users easily discover restaurants, order food, track deliveries, and complete payments with minimal friction. The project also explores usability improvements, information hierarchy, and creating a consistent mobile experience across the entire user journey.

One of the main challenges of the project was designing a food delivery experience that stays simple and intuitive despite the large amount of content and decision-making users face during the ordering process.

Through user interviews and journey mapping, I identified several pain points such as information overload, uncertainty during delivery tracking, difficulty choosing between restaurants, and the need for quick interactions when users are hungry or in a hurry.

Another challenge was balancing visually engaging UI with usability and fast navigation. The solution required careful work with information hierarchy, onboarding flow, restaurant discovery, and reducing friction across checkout and payment processes.

The design process started with user research and competitor analysis to better understand user expectations, motivations, and pain points connected with food delivery services. Interviews and journey mapping helped identify key frustrations during discovery, ordering, and delivery tracking.

Based on the research findings, I created user flows, low-fidelity wireframes, and interactive prototypes to explore different layout and navigation solutions. After multiple iterations and feedback rounds, the final high-fidelity UI focused on simplifying the ordering process, improving usability, and creating a visually consistent mobile experience.

Outcome

The final outcome is a fully designed food delivery app concept covering the complete user journey — from onboarding and restaurant discovery to ordering, payment, and delivery tracking. The project resulted in a structured user flow, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mobile screens focused on usability, simplicity, and smooth navigation.

Through research and iterative design, the final solution addressed common user frustrations such as decision fatigue, unclear delivery expectations, and friction during checkout.
